An alien ship crash lands onto Earth with an alien emerging who looks exactly like humans. Mankind is still in the iron age and Kainan (Caviezel), the alien, finds himself in Norwegian lands amongst Vikings. Kainan was carrying with him a deadly alien beast called the Moorwen which escapes from his ship when they land. Determined to get his prisoner back, Kainan goes on a hunt but is captured by Wulfric (Huston) a Viking prince and is escorted to King Hrothgar. Moorwen has already started destroying villages and eating humans and the Vikings are unaware of the power of the beast. Kainan confesses his true identity to the Vikings and offers help to capture the beast and bring peace once more to their lands. The movie is a very typical story of a hero who slays a beast and that of aliens on Earth. It offers nothing exceptional whatsoever and has probably one of the most cliched stories and climax that can be possible. If this very specific genre interests you, then only must one take the chances of watching this movie. Otherwise, this is a complete washout.

Bollywood would never die without giving up on trying to make a typical Hollywood movie. What does a typical Hollywood movie comprise of? Fast cars, hot girls, loads of action, high-tech gadgets and a plot that has little relevance or sense. Race 2 has effectively done each and every one of those in the worst possible manner ever. When you have playing cards that have 'thermal sensors that tell reflect on Deepika's sunglasses what cards her opponent has' and sports cars with 'parachutes that automatically trigger if it senses a freefall', you immediately know what an amazing movie this is going to be. The original movie had cars involved in it to a higher degree but it seems that in the second movie the makers were far too involved in showing Deepika and Jacquelines body to bother about the vehicles. Armaan Malik (Abraham) is a million-dollar tycoon who has made his money doing shady dealings. Ranvir Singh (Khan) is a con artist who has an idea for which he needs funding and who better to approach than Armaan himself. Armaan buys the idea not knowing that Ravnir's main motive is to dis-repute him and take revenge from him for murdering his girlfriend. The movie is a joke for the word 'movie' and is a disgraceful attempt at trying to be cool. From gadgets that are simply unimaginative and outlandish, gripping action that was missing throughout and a plot line that was far too twisted to be realistic, the movie is a complete wash. The only reason to watch would be the long-legged women but I am sure that cannot be the sole incentive to ever watch this movie. Avoid!

Hollywood, L.A. and Vegas, that is what everyone dreams of achieving one day. The flamboyant lifestyle, the money and the riches. However, all that is shining on the surface is always dark on the inside. The movie shows the life of 3 police officers of the LAPD and their involvement with organised crime. Officer Bud White (Crowe) is a plain-clothes officer who fights for crimes against women. A new recruit in the department, Ed Exley (Pearce) is the son of a famous LAPD officer who intends to live up to his fathers reputation. Jack Vincennes (Spacey) works for the anti-narcotics department and is a movie star amongst the cops. He rubs shoulders with film personalities and receives tips from The Hush-Hush magazine for providing information about big celebrity arrests. Ed and Bud cross paths when Ed's testimony against Bud's partner leads to his partners' removal from the department. A violent mass murder takes place at the Nite Owl coffee shop that Ed starts investigating. The investigation starts revealing the filthy under-belly of the LAPD which involves sex, crime, drugs, hookers and money. The movie is a gripping tale of crime and mystery which keeps you entertained and glued till the very last moment. The performances have been fabulous across the board with every character developing a unique personality for themselves. A must-watch if you love a good crime movie set in the rolling '50s.

When a thousand bullets come buzzing towards him, he can dodge everyone of them; when a hundred able-bodied men come charging at him he can put them all on the ground; when his car jumps 30 feet in the air and spins 20 times before crash landing into a pile of junk, he can walk out without a bruise. Ladies and gentleman, I bring to you for the second time, Chulbul Pandey (Khan). The suave and charismatic police inspector is back and this time he has a bigger jurisdiction to handle, the city of Kanpur. A city whose streets are filled with filth, crime and thugs, Chulbul starts cleaning up and when your cleaning such a huge city, there will be people who are not going to like it. Bachcha Bhaiya (Raj) is the local crime lord who is harbouring political ambitions which he intends to win by rigging the elections and thus using this new power to further his interests. But this can never happen if Chulbul Pandey has decided that he will stop Bachcha Bhaiya from achieving this and swears to get rid of him from Kanpur for good. The first movie was epic in its own way, just like how every Salman Khan movie ends up being. However, the second part lacked the humour and stupidity that the earlier movie had that made it interesting. What this movie also doesn't have is a story and thus its just a good guy trying to get rid of the bad one and that's it. Its just too straight forward, not very exciting, not very entertaining and simply, boring.
Thumbs up: Salman Khan. He is probably the only person in the world who can pull off such a role and such a movie
Thumbs down: Far off from part one and seriously lacks the entertainment value.

The prequel to the iconic Lord of the Rings series of books and movies, this movie narrates the story of Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) and how he came across the ring that led to the story that followed. Bilbo is a peace loving Hobbit who finds himself undertaking an adventure he never thought he would. The dwarfs, led by Thorin (Armitage) are attempting to go back to their land which was besieged by a fearsome dragon that has taken hold of the Dwarf castle and all their gold. Gandalf (McKellen) has agreed to assist the dwarfs and suggests that Mr. Baggins should join them as the burglar. Although Bilbo has never so much as stolen a stone from the ground, he surprises himself by being a part of the 14-member contingent that is out to do the impossible. LOTR was epic in its own way and it is very normal for anyone to expect its prequel to be just as amazing. Sadly, however, the movie is far from its famous siblings. It is slow, very slow, doesn't have the drama or the intensity of LOTR and simply seems to miss that special factor that was required for this movie to be good. It seems the movie was made just to finish the entire franchisee and never really to entertain the audience. I don't know if it was the 3D glasses, the theater or the print of the movie but this has to be by far my worst ever 3D experience ever.
Thumbs up: Stunning graphics and visuals
Thumbs down: Slow, boring and stretched and it yet didn't finish the entire story.

A British thief, Charlie Crocker (Caine) is released from prison and learns that his good friend has been killed by the Italian mafia over the Alps. His friends widowed wife gives Charlie the tapes of a plan that her husband was going to undertake until he got killed by the Mafia. A Turin-based automobile manufacturing company, Fiat, regularly transfers large stash of money from Turin airport to various destinations. The plan is to isolate this convoy in the middle of Turin and steal the stash. For this assignment he needs a gang of people and he breaks into prison to meet his ex-warden, Mr. Bridger (Coward) to ask him to arrange this for him. Mr. Bridger learns that the Chinese are heavily investing in Fiat towards the setting up of a new factory and agrees to help Charlie. The only reason this movie is iconic or has a cult following is for the Mini Cooper cars that are featured in this. The movie is famous amongst car fanatics for displaying an array of fast cars from the '60s and showcasing their raw power and ability. Lamborghini Miura, Aston Martin DB4, Jaguar E-type, Mini Coopers and what not, they all make their own respective appearances winding through the twisted and flat roads of the alps. The only drawback of the movie is the crime itself which seems to be hugely skewed in favour of movies main protagonist. Can you steal a stash of gold from a heavily armed convoy with bats and sticks? Does an armoured truck take 10 tries to smash open a wooden door? And no matter how many times Mr. Crocker manages to shake off the cops in a heavily modified Mini they always seem to come back right on his tail. And what is with the awkward ending? The movie is a love or hate kinds where action and car fans might enjoy it simply since it fulfills their desires but a more average audience would probably shake it off as being nothing very different.

A group of people from various backgrounds have come together to perform a high-value crime. Seamus O'Rourke (Pryce) is an Irish terrorist who has employed Deirdre (McElhone) to assemble a team of operatives who can attack a convoy and steal a briefcase. Sam (De Niro) an ex-CIA agent who is on the run is part of the team along with Frenchman Vincent (Reno) and a polish computer specialist Gregor (Skarsgard) amongst others. The contents of the case is never revealed and what ensues for the rest of the movie is an action-packed wild goose chase across France for the briefcase with a lot of twists and turns. The movie is based on a tested storyline but it has a very entertaining second half. The first 30 minutes appear to be slow and dragged but once the action kicks in, its a blast of a movie to watch. The crime or the performances are not something to watch and the only thing that might appeal to the audience is the raw '90s action without any special effects or over-dramatic sequences.A great entertainer and a good one-time watch.

A security guard of a biometrics facility gets implanted with a unique device with the power to change the world. Chad Turner (Sheffer) must now travel to Berlin from Bangkok along with the chip in order to bring it to safety. In order to ensure Chad's safety, Cooper (Roberts) the head of security of Avanti, the maker of the chip, travels with him from Bangkok to Berlin. A rival company wants to get hold of this chip and hires a hitman, Joseph Pike (Daniels) to trace down the chip and bring it back at any cost. Joseph learns that the chip is traveling with Chad and decides to hijack the aircraft and obtain it.Coming from a Christian movie making company, the movie has a lot of Christianity infused into it and most of it seems to be done rather forcefully. Nowhere in the movie is the consequences of the chip explained, the action is horrible and plot is overall very boring. The unwanted religious preachings that seem to have no connect with the actual movie does not actually add any value to it. The makers seemed to want to drive a point and somehow that objective got built around an action movie storyline. Highly avoidable and only to be watched by the religious.

Celebrating 50 years of James Bond on film, Skyfall is the twenty-third movie in the franchisee and Daniel Craig's third. 007 (Bond) is on a mission in Turkey where a mercenary killed several MI6 agents and has stolen a hard drive that contains the information of several NATO operatives who are hiding undercover in various terrorist organisations throughout the world. If this information gets revealed, several operatives would be compromised. When Bond and Eve (Harris) fail to recover the hard drive from the mercenary, M (Dench) comes under political pressure for failing to save the lives of so many agents and is asked to take up voluntary retirement. The MI6 headquarters comes under a terrorist attack which causes further damage to M and her image. 007 was assumed to have been shot dead in Turkey but who actually survives. He enjoys death and decides to retire for good when the troubles back home convince him that he is needed once more. An old, unfit and alcohol addicted James Bond returns to duty with a huge question mark slapped on his head on whether he can continue the job or not. The movie is very different from the usual Bond movies where we are accustomed to seeing Bond romance several beauties, have a gadget loaded car and have blistering action sequences. There was no 'Bond girl' in this movie, there were hardly any awesome gadgets that 007 used and save for the first 20 minutes there was absolutely no other captivating action sequence the movie could bring up. Javier Bardem was a saving grace to some extent but somehow he too does not feel like the right villain that Bond would usually fight. The movie was disappointing and although I haven't seen each and every Bond movie, I will go as far as claiming this to be one of the worst I have come across.
Thumbs up: Good action at the start, shows a different side of Bond
Thumbs down: Does not feel Bond-like. A lot of the necessary Bond elements are missing

The second movie of the very famous Batman comic series. A deformed baby is born in Gotham city who is thrown away by his parents due to his deformity. The young child gets raised by penguins in the city zoo and lives within the sewers. Years later, this child emerges as the Penguin (DeVito) and announces that he wants to trace back his identity and discover himself. Max Shreck (Walken) is Gotham city's biggest industrialist and wants to install more power plants within the city. Although the city currently generates a surplus, Max is trying to convince investors and the mayor that Gotham would soon need more power and he is investing for the future. In reality, power plant would actually drain power from the cities power grid and this is discovered by Max's secretary, Selina Kyle (Pfeiffer). Selina, originally an introvert, survives a murder attempt by Max and converts herself into the Catwoman and hatches a plan of revenge against Max. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne aka Batman (Keaton) smells a rat when The Penguin decides to run for mayor and starts to get down and discover what the actual reason is. The movie is quite similar to the earlier movie with only the villain changing and the addition of The Catwoman. What makes this movie very desirable is Danny DeVito and his fabulous performance of The Penguin. Somehow, Batman's villains have always had good performances, including the new and old versions. The movie is a very normal super-hero entertainer but is worth that entertainment value and is enjoyable.
Thumbs up: Danny DeVito's stupendous performance
Thumbs down: Nothing in particular, its very well rounded

When a group of worthless and objectiveless friends suddenly find themselves surrounded by zombies all over, their life takes a turn. Shaun (Pegg) and his childhood buddy (Ed) share an apartment where Shaun works at an electronics store and Ed does nothing. Whilst Shaun hates his job and life, Ed sits at home playing video games all day long. Liz (Ashfield) Shaun's girlfriend is tried of Shaun and his hopeless attitude and his love for the pub called Winchester. Liz feels that Shaun is being held back because of Ed and is not able to progress in life because Ed cannot support himself. One fine morning, the group find themselves facing a zombie catastrophe and Shaun decides that he needs to rescue Liz and his mum and take them to safety. His amazing plan is to pick up Liz, her friends, his mum, her husband and take them all to good old Winchester until the zombie situation dies down. The movie is quite funny and is a good mix of comedy and action with the casual thrills and chills thrown here and there. Its a good mixed pot but lacks any one of the elements to really stand out. Its not all that funny, the action is not all that great and the plot is way too simple. Pegg and Frost have appeared in many movies together and the duo make a solid humour pair and are virtually unbeatable. A good entertainer but nothing too exceptional.
Thumbs up: Pegg and Frost duo is amazing, good mixture of everything

The Pevensie children are back in England and are leading their normal human lives. Susan and Peter are away to university, leaving Lucy (Henley) and Edmund (Keynes) to live at their cousins residence. Their cousin, Eustace (Poulter) is an extremely annoying, pampered and timid individual who does not make Lucy and Edmund's life easy. When Narnia summons them, Eustace becomes an uninvited guest to the mystery land. The three find themselves aboard the Dawn Treader, a huge ship which is led by none other than Prince Caspian (Barnes) himself. The four find themselves on an adventure to the far corners of unexplored Narnia land where they encounter evil, mysteries and demons they have never ever seen or heard of before. The movie is a huge disconnect from the previous movies with the story like just another adventure with the same cast. It might be appealing to the younger generation, but is no match for the more reputed fantasy and adventure movies known. A big let down for a Narnia fan and an average watch for everyone else.

The story of a young girl who witnesses the rise and fall of Iran and its evolution from a free monarchy to an intolerant democracy. Like any other country of its time, Iran too was ruled by a ruler, the Shah of Iran. The Shah's ruthlessness against his enemies and those who opposed him did not go down well with his citizens and was eventually overthrown in the Iranian Revolution. Marjane Satrapi (Mastroianni) was brought up in a contemporary Muslim family, where freedom and western lifestyle was easily accepted and widely protested against the Shah and wanted Iran to be free. When Islamic Fundamentalists win the first general elections with a landslide victory, the peoples hopes of any freedom are squashed. Woman are forced to cover themselves from head to toe, all forms of music and entertainment are banned and life becomes hard to get by. Marjane's parents do not want her to be brought up in this Iran and send her off to Europe to experience a good life with freedom and education. If it is a lesson in history that you seek, the movie accurately recounts the Iranian Revolution and depicts modern fundamentalist Iran very accurately. The childish but yet modern animation is clever and easy to watch and makes the movie much lighter than what it would have been in regular print. An autobiographical movie is made only when the persons life story has something unique to narrate. Apart from being a part of a revolution at a young age, most of Marjane's life is like any other teenage girl and does not reflect a uniqueness that it should have. A slow and slightly tedious movie but a must watch for history lovers.

With every passing movie, it seems as if this series is just getting even worse. And its not just me, but the facts support this very idea too. The eight movie of the infamous series was the least performing one and the only to not make $1 million. The story is probably a case study of how to make a ridiculously outrageous movie that makes very little sense and can be a very very big bore. An infamous Russian mafia, Konstantine Konali ((Perlman) has developed The Game, a video game which the entire world is addicted to. There is intelligence that he now wishes to modify the game which when played would extract all data from the individuals computer. Konali intends to ensure the game reaches US government computers and steal all the governments secrets. In order to tackle this situation, a team of officers from Comdt. Eric Lassards (Gaynes) academy are being sent to Moscow to apprehend Konali. From what you have now read, it is quite understandable at the tacky nature of the story and the even worse humour and bad plot execution. The movie does not have any bit of 'academy' left in it and is simply the story of a bunch of police officers and their supposedly hilarious adventure. A complete bore and a pure waste of time.

Black Mamba (Thurman), still has some unfinished business to do. Ever since the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad opened fire at her wedding rehersal, Black Mamba aka The Bride aka Beatrix Kiddo has sworn to hunt and kill each and every one of the squad members. Having fulfilled 2 of the 5 targets in
Vol. 1, Kiddo has her eyes squarely set on Budd aka Sidewinder (Madsen), Bill's younger brother, Elle Driver aka California Mountain Snake (Hannah) and of course, Bill aka Snake Charmer (Carradine). Bill was once Beatrix's lover and she was pregnant with his child when Bill and the rest of the squad killed her, or at least that is what they thought they did. Although Bill and Kiddo are emotionally attached to each other, Bill still tried to kill her and the Black Mamba is going to find out why. The reason why we loved the earlier movie is because of the phenomenal action that was presented. Heads rolling, blood spurting and the raw fight scenes made this movie a visual treat for fans. Sadly though, the second movie does not tread the same path as the first one and tries to be more sober and simple with a larger focus on dramatic sequences. Although some might hail the toned down action, I personally preferred the slashing Hanzo sword dripping in blood with a severed hand squirming in a corner.
Thumbs up: Very gripping and a good entertainer

The murderous filth and slime of gangs and street lords is never ending. In continuation to
Part I , Sardar Khan was seen being murdered by Sultan Qureshi (Tripathi) who in-turn was hired by Sardar Khan's arch rival, Ramadhir Singh (Dhulia) to do the job. Swearing revenge for murdering his father and grandfather, Sardar's elder son, Danish (Kumar) plans revenge but fails and is killed. It's now up to Sardar's second son, Faizal (Siddique) to win back his family's pride by taking revenge on Ramadhir and his associates who have wiped out half his family. The pot-head that he is, Faizal's mother and rest of the family have little hope from him that he would actually do something. Definite (Quadri) is Faizal's half-brother, born to Sardar's second wife, Durga. Definite too wants a share in the family business and decides to help his half-brother in his quest to wipe out Ramadhir and his henchmen. The movie treads on paths similar to that of
The Godfather, where the family boss is killed and the younger son is forced to join the family business and uphold the family name. Even though the movie was shot in continuation and was intended for a one part release, there is a stark difference between the two parts. Part 2 has less humour and the occasional sarcastic line to make you laugh and has for more gunshots and blood than the previous movie. Manoj Bajpai's presence in the previous part added some form of character to the movie which part 2 seemed to lack. The missing presence of a prominent lead actor is a bold move by the makers but somehow left behind a huge hap. The movie in all, is a crazy mix of slang Indian abuses, raw action and cunning crime plotting. It may not be as phenomenal as its predecessor, but its still highly enjoyable.

Most of the wars fought in the middle east for the past half-century have more or less centred around oil. Inspired from two separate terrorist attacks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the movie focuses on 4 FBI agents who travel to the middle-each kingdom to solve a similar terrorist attack. A housing complex of an American oil company with American citizens residing with it, is bombed during a Sunday softball game that strains the relationship between Saudi and USA. FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury (Foxx), Special Agent Grant Sykes (Cooper), Special Agent Janet Mayes (Garner) and Special Agent Adam Leavitt (Bateman) are sent to investigate the attacks, in spite of disapproval from various US agencies. Col. Faris Al-Ghazi (Barhom) from Saudi State Police is put in charge of their security for the entire journey. Fleury is shocked to learn that he and his team are not granted permission to investigate and can only 'watch' the Saudi investigation which is far from acceptable. The movie narrates a good spy story with a lot of action and thrilling sequences to keep you entertained. Although the mystery solving goes well, its the climax that is a let down. An average ending with no twists is a huge let down to otherwise good movie.

Princess Kasumi (Aoki) is the leader of an Asian clan whose brother has been missing since a long time. Hayabusa (Kosugi) her brothers' best friend has not been able to find his body, leading Kasumi to believe that he might still be alive. She escapes from the temple and gets labelled as an outcast by her clan, forcing Ayane (Malthe), a ninja, to chase her and kill her. Tina (Presley) is a professional wrestler, looking at doing something more 'real' with her life. Christie (Valance) is a master thief and along with Tina and Kasumi, the three are invited to the DOA tournament. The tournament features a group of people skilled in their own form of fighting and combat to battle it out to win $10 million. Kasumi's brother, Hayate (Chou) had abandoned the clan to take place in the previous tournament and Kasumi believes he is still alive. DOA is headed by Dr. Victor Donovan (Roberts) whose secret plan is to inject each of the participants with nano-bots that would track and record each of the participants combat moves. The moment the movie takes off, you quickly realise that you have booked yourself for 90 mins of atrocity. The movie aims to showcase an overdose of bikini-clad woman doing kung-fu with each other for most of the movie. Although each of the participants are supposed to 'excel in their own field of combat' everyone seems to have the exact same martial arts technique for fighting. Don't waste your time on this, even the bikini-clad women are not all that worth it.
Thumbs up: You can give credit to the action, but it gets extremely repetitive

Its amazing how the performance of a single person can cast such a huge effect on the entire movie. The Joker (Ledger) is a psychotic villain at Gotham who seemingly does random acts of death and destruction without any certain motive. The Batman (Bale) is Gotham's vigilante who has managed to keep the cities streets more or less clean from what it previously was. Harvey Dent (Eckhart) is the new DA and has infused stringent measures that have kept the mobs illegal money at bay. The mob bosses are worried cause they cannot get their money out of the city and The Joker offers his services as a cure. He wants The Batman to remove his mask and if he doesn't, one person will be killed everyday. The Joker was a man who never planned anything, who went with the flow and did whatever he felt like. His only ambition was to show that the good may not be all that good and they can come down to the levels of the bad. The movie is a fabulous improvement from the previous movie and Heath Ledger (RIP) has put on, what I believe, the best performance anyone has ever done in any movie. The lunacy and sheer craziness that his performance brings out, completes the movie and shows the true Joker the way he was created to be. The movie is nowhere near being a superhero movie and is very typically Nolan in a lot of ways. Respect for the movie and Ledger would remain always.

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Danny Glover
A retired US Marine Corp Sniper, Sgt. Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg) was double-crossed by the Army during combat when backup did not arrive and was left to die. Surviving and returning home, he retires with anger and rage against the government. Swagger was known for his sniping ability and one of the few people in the world who is capable of hitting targets from over a mile away. Col. Isaac Johnson (Glover) approaches Bob and asks him to help the government in a top secret assignment. There is a tip that the President will be assassinated from three possible locations and will be done from over a mile away. Johnson wants Bob to scout the three locations and derive which exact location is the President most likely to be shot from and help capture the assassin. The movie is a very typical action movie with American heroism and conspiracy theories. Mark Wahlberg puts on a good show but his performance is lost with lack of support from other actors and the movies overall plot line. If run-of-the-mill and watch-and-forget action movies is what you are seeking, then this movie delivers just that. If your hoping it would be something different or interesting, that probably wont be the case.
Thumbs up: Mark Wahlberg.
Thumbs down: A regular action feature with nothing unique to offer.
